Cost Analyst / Assistant Controller

The Cost Analyst supports and improves the operations reporting, costing process, budget/forecasting, and CAPEX process of Plant Mebane.  Additionally, the cost analyst will acquire an in-depth understanding of the cost accounting and process flows for the plant and will support the Plant Controller as a business partner to the Plant Management team.

Job description

  • Create weekly reporting and support creation of monthly reporting packages
  • Assist with the annual budget, forecasting, and standard setting processes; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data, with a complete understanding of all the risks and opportunities.
  • Understand variances to budget and prior year and identifying opportunities for cost reductions and improvements
  • Analysis of month-end results: P&L and Balance Sheet including variance analysis
  • Assist in the preparation of the month end results package for the Plant that is presented to Management Team at the plant and Corporate Finance
  • Perform validation of month-end financial controls and intercompany reconciliations
  • KPI Reporting, development and improvement
  • Monitor and work with Plant Controller and Plant Management on Continuous Improvement initiatives and track accordingly
  • Support Plant Controller as finance business partner to other departments (technical department, production team, etc.)
  • Ad hoc financial analysis of financial and operating metrics as needed
  • Assist with overall investment request process including validation of assumptions, preparation and submissions.

Profile

Education / Experience

•       Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, ideally with minimum 3 years of general accounting or finance experience

Specific Knowledge

•       Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Products like Excel and Power Point

•       Experience with ERP packages; SAP experience and SAP BI tools is a plus

•       Must be able to perform duties following all regulatory GMP/FSMA food hygiene practices
